StoreCred vs CreditPerk

CreditPerk launched in July 2026 with a similar starting idea: add a bonus when a customer takes a refund as store credit, built on Shopify's native ledger rather than a proprietary wallet. Both apps are new. Here's the honest comparison, including where CreditPerk is genuinely ahead.

Where CreditPerk is ahead

Two places, and they're real ones. First, they have a free plan and a cheaper paid plan. If all you want is to issue store credit by hand or by CSV, CreditPerk does that for nothing, and their refund bonuses cost less per month than StoreCred's single plan. Second, they show a customer's balance on your storefront while they shop. StoreCred relies on Shopify's native surfaces — the customer account area and checkout — so a shopper sees their credit when they log in or check out, but not as a banner while browsing. If either of those is what you're optimising for, CreditPerk is a reasonable choice and we'd rather you knew that up front.

Where StoreCred is different

The biggest gap is cashback. CreditPerk issues credit when a refund happens, when you issue it by hand, or when you upload a CSV — all of which depend on something going wrong or on you remembering to do it. StoreCred also issues a percentage of every paid order as store credit automatically, with rules for minimum order value and excluded collections. That turns store credit from a returns-recovery tool into a reason to come back after a normal, happy purchase, which is where most of the repeat-order value actually is.

The second gap is what happens to credit nobody spends. Both apps can set an expiry date; StoreCred also emails the customer before their balance lapses, which is the step that turns an expiring balance into an order instead of a silent write-off and an annoyed customer.

The third is control. StoreCred's refund bonus can run fully automatically, or sit in a pending queue where you approve each one with a single click — useful if you have a returns pattern you'd rather not reward automatically.

One thing both apps get right

Neither app invents its own wallet. Both write to Shopify's native store credit ledger, which means balances appear in your customers' Shopify accounts and redeem at Shopify's own checkout, and they stay valid even if you uninstall the app that created them. That's worth insisting on whichever app you pick — it's the difference between changing apps and migrating a database. Our guide to Shopify's native store credit explains why.

Switching between them

Because both apps write to the same native ledger, balances your customers already hold are not locked to either app — they belong to the store. StoreCred's CSV import re-issues balances in one pass if you're consolidating from somewhere else; email us and we'll do the migration for you at no charge. The step-by-step walkthrough covers the CSV format and how to verify totals before you cancel anything.
